The
2 1/2 Dollar Indian Head Gold Coin
One
of the most common questions I receive from National Coin Depository
clients is what gold coin do you recommend purchasing. Invariably I
tell them the $2 1/2 Indian Head gold coin. It's not that other gold
coins represent poor investments, or that there is something I
secretly know about the future potential of this quarter eagle gold
coin. It's simply that this coin has so much going for it.
Regarded by numismatic authorities as one of the most beautiful
coins ever minted, the $2 1/2 Indian Head gold coin was designed by
Bela Lyon Pratt, a distinguished American artist. The coin was
minted between 1908-1915 and 1925-1929, for a total of only 13
years. "...the design will intrigue you - it is most
interesting and different. All of the letters and images are sunk
below the surface of the coin!" The average number of coins
struck each year was under half a million, a paltry mintage compared
to those of other U.S. gold coins.
Furthermore, most numismatic experts agree that fewer than 10%
of the original mintage survives in any condition today, with only
about 2% left in Uncirculated grade, making this coin among the most
coveted of all gold coins ever minted and one with tremendous
investment potential. Finally, the design will intrigue you - it is
most interesting and different. All of the letters and images are
sunk below the surface of the coin! The term used is "incuse,"
and (along with the $5 Indian Head) is the only coin ever designed
this way. Therefore, the desirability of this coin is forever
assured.
Rare coins receive their value from several components. First
is the relative "rareness" factor each coin commands.
Second is the "condition" and "eye appeal"
comprising the grade for each coin. Finally, factors of popularity
and strength of market demand influence the price for each rare
coin.
Investors from all walks of life can protect paper wealth by
setting aside savings and investment dollars in privacy and timeless
value in rare coins. In fact, owning rare coins could become
insurance for economic survival in times of stress or turbulence.
National Coin Depository believes that rare coin investments
should become a matter of priority for investors in the present
market. Let us tell you why. . .
