Quality. . .
Standards for Grading Coins
Investors are
primarily interested in rare coins rated 60 or higher on the
industry's commonly used 70 point numerical grading scale. Only
examples that have never been in circulation can earn such a high
rating. This material falls into two categories: 1. Mint State
(abbreviated "MS") coins which remain today in exactly the
same condition as when they were minted. 2. Proof (abbreviated "PR")
coins received special handling when they were originally struck and
were never intended to go into general circulation.
Circulated
- Minted and used as legal tender.
