Morgan Silver Dollars were minted from silver mined at Nevada’s Comstock Lode "Big Bonanza" vein discovered in 1873. It was the richest silver strike in U.S. history. These coins were minted from 1878 until 1904, when the allotted supply of silver bullion gave out. Minting resumed in 1921 - but only for one year. Then the Morgan Silver Dollar was retired forever - over 75 years ago.
